Our Commitment to Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. This notice explains the privacy and security practices employed by the Indiana College Network Web site. The Indiana College Network (ICN) and its parent organization, the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS), are the sole owners of any user information collected on this site. We will not sell, share, or rent this information in ways other than those disclosed in this statement.

Personal Information Collection and Use

In some circumstances, the ICN Web site may request personal information from you, such as your name, email address, and telephone number. ICN uses this information to process preregistration and admissions requests as well as customize your experience on our Web site. Specifically, information collected in ICN preregistration forms will be shared with your Home Institution, the applicable Originating Institution(s), and your nearby ICN Learning Centers, if specified by you. Information collected in ICN nondegree admissions forms will be shared with the institutions to which you are making application. In addition, ICN may use this information for other purposes, such as alerting you to new services that can assist you in your area of interest.

Use of Cookies

Cookies are data files exchanged between Web browsers and servers. The ICN Web site uses cookies to record certain facts about its users, such as specific pages viewed and site-related preferences. Information collected from cookies is used solely for the purposes of site maintenance and improvement. Personal information such as name, email address, or phone number is not stored in cookies.

The ICN Web site also employs session cookies to track certain types of transactions, such as searches and preregistration requests. Session cookies allow the system to keep track of who you are and which steps of a multi-step process you’ve completed. For example, the ICN preregistration system requires you to access, make choices, and enter data on a series of Web pages. Your data and choices are temporarily stored in a session cookie so that it is available to the system when needed at a later stage in the process. When the browser application is closed, all session cookies are deleted from your system.

ICN and IHETS may share aggregated demographic information with our members and partners. Demographic data are not linked to personal information in ways that could reveal the identity of individual persons.

This Web site contains links to other sites. ICN is not responsible for the privacy practices of other sites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave our site and to read the privacy statements of every Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct and ethical use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure any information collected online. All transactions involving the transmission of sensitive data are conducted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology, which encrypts all information that is sent to us.
