Some institutions make it easy for students to order books and class syllabi from the bookstore online or by phone. To make sure that you have your books and materials before class begins, order early and allow sufficient time for your materials to arrive.

Distance students sometimes can find their textbooks through online bookstores, such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com. If a book is out of stock at a campus bookstore, be sure to recommend these services to your students so they can begin classes prepared. A personal favorite is Allbookstores.com where a student can compare prices on different online bookstores for texts, both new and used. Amazon.com also sells used textbooks as well. A cautionary note: online stores without used texts will not buy back texts after the class is completed.
